Downtown Glam

first_imgCOMPLETE FASHION WEEK COVERAGEJared Gold’s show brought eccentricity to Downtown Friday night, but Eduardo Lucero’s show last night was all about glam. As the other marquee name on BOXeight Fashion’s roster, Lucero delivered a sexy collection that was clearly inspired by the future (LED-scrolling earrings, lots of metallics). There were a few simple shift dresses matched with sequin underlay that we could have went without, but his gowns and party dresses reminded everyone why he puts on a show in the first place. “Ugly Betty” star Ana Ortiz sat in the front row signaling her favorite picks to a friend across the runway she held her index finger up and mouthed “that’s my number one pick” to a strappy eggplant dress with a plunging back. Jenna Jameson, who was looking surprisingly demure in a cr?me babydoll dress and escorted by UFC star Tito Ortiz, nodded in approval when a short, gold and silver metallic dress strutted by. Since time and flexibility were some of the reasons Lucero opted to show outside of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, BOXeight’s alternative provided a decent outlet for the designer; the show managed to commence with very little chaos and there was plenty of space. We’re all about reviving the Downtown scene, and so far, BOXeight’s efforts have been a good start. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
