Chelsea boss Sarri says he wants Cesc to stayby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveChelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says he wants Cesc Fabregas to sign a new deal.Senior Chelsea stars Fabregas, David Luiz and Gary Cahill are all on contracts that expire next summer, but Sarri intends to “respect” the Blues’ policy of only offering one-year extensions to players aged 30 and older.”In this position we have only two players, Jorginho and Fabregas, so for me it would be really a problem without Cesc,” said Sarri.”I want him to stay, I don’t know the final decision of Cesc and the club of course.”But for me it’s very important and if Cesc will go I think that we need to buy another player, and it’s not easy because, technically, Cesc is a very important player.”And I think that in the market it’s very difficult to find a player with his characteristics.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

SOUTH BEND, IN – SEPTEMBER 25: A general view of the opening kick-off between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Stanford Cardinal at Notre Dame Stadium on September 25, 2010 in South Bend, Indiana. Stanford defeated Notre Dame 37-14. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)Last October, Notre Dame freshman wide receiver Justin Brent went to a New York Knicks game with Lisa Ann. The now-retired adult film star posted a couple pictures of the pair on Instagram and, later that evening, a selfie of them in bed together. This might have gotten Brent in trouble with Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly, who said the freshman was in his “doghouse” and “gets distracted easily” near the conclusion of the 2014 season. We haven’t seen any photos of Brent and Ann together since the Knicks game. It’s unclear if they still keep in touch. In an interview with GQ‘s Myles Brown, Ann recounted how she met the Notre Dame wide receiver. You were with Justin Brent recently…. I love my little 19 year old. How’d that start?I met him at a restaurant. We exchanged numbers. He was going to be on break from school and I was like, “Hey, why don’t you come to the city and we’ll go to a Knicks game.”I like these new friendships in a weird mentor kinda way. I don’t have children. Because I did porn, guys are just so honest with me, asking me sexual questions they might not want to ask their friends. Those answers came from a lengthy interview with GQ in which Ann describes her relationships with athletes. It’s a fascinating read. [GQ]
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri believes Giorgio Chiellini’s injury is nothing serious after the defender was forced to be withdrawn against Atalanta on Wednesday.Chiellini came off after 25 minutes of Juve’s shock defeat in the Coppa Italia with the score then tied at 0-0.The centre-back was replaced by Joao Cancelo, who slotted in at right-back, while Mattia De Sciglio was forced to play alongside Daniele Rugani in the heart of defence. This make-shift back four endured a tough night against Atalanta and ended up on the long side of a 3-0 scoreline, thanks to Timothy Castagne’s first-half strike and Duvan Zapata’s double. The evening was only compounded by Chiellini’s injury, with many suspecting a serious calf strain. However, following the match Allegri moved to calm those fears, adding Martin Caceres would be available if the 34-year-old was sidelined.”Let’s see,” he told JTV.”He has a discomfort on the outer calf. It should not be anything to worry about, otherwise there will be Caceres.”The Uruguayan defender rejoined Juventus this month on loan from Serie A rivals Lazio, for what will be his third spell at the club,His introduction could prove to be hugely significant with Juventus so short on defensive options. Both Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barazagli are ruled out through injury, meaning Caceres and Rugani are the squad’s only fit centre-backs.Given the lack of options available to Allegri, he has linked with a deadline-day move for Parma defender Bruno Alves. It remains to be seen whether Chiellini will be available for Juve’s next clash, when they host Alves’ Parma in Serie A on Saturday. The reigning Italian champions will want to bounce back quickly from Wednesday’s humiliation. The defeat was the first time that Juventus have lost a Coppa Italia tie for five season and the first time they have been knocked-out before the quarter-final stage since 2006/07, when the club were in Serie B.Worrying, the Bianconeri’s league form has also taken something of a hit in recent weeks and they only won by the narrowest of margins last time against Lazio, when two goals in the last 20 minutes ensured Juve ran out as 2-1 winners.
Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham believes there ‘is no better guy to play under’ than Frank Lampard amidst rumours that the Derby County boss is set to become the new Blues manager. The club’s all-time top-scorer has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge to fill the vacancy left by Maurizio Sarri, who departed last week to join Serie A champions Juventus.Lampard took Derby to the Championship play-off final last season before losing in the final to Abraham’s loan club Aston Villa, and the striker has welcomed his potential return. Someone you have grown up watching, been at Chelsea forever.“He knows about me as well. I played against his team in the play-off final.”The 21-year-old, who scored 26 goals for the Villans in the Championship last season, has yet to find a way through to Chelsea’s first-team and has made just three first-team appearances. The striker has been linked with a return to Villa Park as they build their squad for their first season back in the Premier League, but he has his sights set on making a name for himself in a Blues shirt.Abraham knows that for himself and the rest of the club’s young players, there may not be a plethora of opportunities coming their way if the club’s transfer ban is lifted, so they need to take their chance when it arrives.“This year is the most important year for us, It is now or never. There will never be a better time to play the youngsters,” he added.“Of course the transfer ban is probably not what the club wanted, but I am excited and I am sure the rest of the players are.“There is a great chance for us so we must get our heads down at training and go for it at Chelsea.“I have already been talking to the club about pre-season. I’m going to have a couple of weeks and then come back hitting the ground running.” Check out Goal’s Premier League 2019-20 fantasy football podcast for game tips, debate and rivalries.
Free agent right-back Dani Alves is close to a move to Sao Paulo as the veteran defender will return to Brazil to continue his career. The Brazil international is without a club after his release by Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season. The 36-year-old took to Instagram last week in a tongue-in-cheek post, asking where he should send his CV as he looked for a new team. Article continues below Editors’ Picks Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Messi a man for all Champions League seasons – but will this really be Barcelona’s? The answer seems to have come from his homeland with Sao Paulo prepared to offer him a three-year deal, sources tell Goal, something no European club was willing to do.The player, currently on holiday in the country is expected in the city in the next few days to make the move official as he has already reached a verbal agreement with the club.Sao Paulo initially thought the player’s wage demands would be too high, describing the chances of signing him as “almost unviable,” but the lure of a long-term contract at the club he supported as a youngster has tempted Alves.Alves started his career at Bahia, the only club more successful in Brazil than Sao Paulo, before moving to Sevilla in Spain in 2002 when he was 19.Six years at Sevilla followed, before he made the move to Barcelona in 2008.He spent eight years with the Blaugrana, making 247 appearances in Catalonia and winning 22 trophies while at the club. The honours at Barca are part of the 40 Alves has won throughout his career, making him the most decorated player in history. He spent a season at Juventus after leaving Spain. The Turin giants were one of the clubs rumoured to be interested in the player, who captained Brazil to Copa America glory this summer, picking up the Player of the Tournament award in the process.Inter were another club supposedly in talks with Alves, but no club was willing to offer him anything beyond a one-year deal.English teams were also reportedly interested in the right-back, and he wanted to play in the Premier League. He came close to rejoining Pep Guardiola, a manger of his at Barcelona, at Manchester City before moving to PSG two seasons ago.He helped the Paris club to two consecutive Ligue 1 titles before they released him, paving the way for a return to his home country.
Pedro Neto scored on his debut as Wolves brushed Pyunik aside 4-0 at Molineux to secure an 8-0 aggregate victory and a place in the Europa League play-off round.Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were already virtually guaranteed of progression but ensured they moved two games away from the group stage in style, although Serie A side Torino are next up in the competition.Neto’s opening goal for the club came early in the second half and he was quickly involved again, setting up Morgan Gibbs-White. Ruben Vinagre added Wolves’ third and they completed the scoring in stunning fashion thanks to an acrobatic finish from Diogo Jota.Wolves had established a dominant position in the tie thanks to last week’s 4-0 win at the Republican Stadium, where Raul Jimenez scored twice.Having handed debuts to Jesus Vallejo and Neto in the return fixture, they almost took an early lead when the latter fired wide from outside the box, while Patrick Cutrone wasted two chances before half-time.Andrija Dragojevic stayed big to deny Gibbs-White after the restart but Neto struck the opener from close range in the 54th minute, tucking in a Cutrone cross.Cutrone > Neto > pic.twitter.com/bEKqmx9n25— Wolves (@Wolves) August 15, 2019Confidence was then flowing for the 19-year-old as he darted into space on the left and put the ball on a plate for the arriving Gibbs-White to net his first senior goal.Pyunik were cut open on the right flank again in the 64th minute when Adama Traore set up Vinagre for his second Europa League strike of the season. The pick of the goals was still to come with three minutes left, however, a fine team move seeing Wolves find Jimenez in space and his scooped pass over the Pyunik defence was met by Jota’s wonderful overhead kick.Torino will likely provide a far sterner test, but Wolves continue to enjoy their first taste of European football since the 1980-81 campaign.
